Immediate openings available for new clients, including after school hours.
My name is Samantha Veres, I go by Sammi, and my pronouns are she/her. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with 6 years of experience working with children, young adults, families, couples, and others, healing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and more. I am local to Columbus and serve all of Ohio.
If there’s something heavy that you’re dealing with, something you might not have the tools to work through on your own just yet, I’m here to help. I’m someone you can vent to, work through trauma with, heal relationships with, and find easier ways to get through the day with. If you can’t focus, have trouble communicating, can’t seem to feel fulfilled and in control of your life, I’m here.
My goal is to help find what peace and progress can look like in your life. At your pace, we can safely challenge the obstacles you’ve been facing, and learn how to maintain more control, resilience, and fulfillment. When we reach our end, you take with you the confidence to continue these efforts and a toolbox of mental health strategies to do so.
Rates
I created my practice with compassion, justice and community in mind. My goal is to uplift and care for my neighbors with services they can always have access to. This is my business, but it’s not just a business to me. That’s why I make sliding-scale rates as widely available as possible.
I do not accept insurance for this reason. I do however provide a superbill upon request, that can be submitted to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
This model, The Green Bottle chart, describes where you might fall on my sliding scale. Together, during your consultation, we will look through the descriptors and determine which fits you presently. Rates will be subject to change and reassessment.
My suggested rates per tier (cost for 60 minutes of service):
Tier 3 : $110-$75
Tier 2 : $70-55
Tier 1 : $50-30
A good way to tell if you’re ready for counseling is if you’re dealing with a persistent problem with your thoughts, behaviors, or relationships that you haven’t been able to solve on your own or just with friends or family. Also, therapy is great for people who just feel the need for more overall general support
Counseling isn’t just for one specific type of person, its for everyone! As a counselor, I strive to give clients an experience unique to their personality and needs.
Think of how long the issues and emotions you are dealing with came to be in your life. You deserve just as much time, and more, to heal and progress. I am committed to a person-centered approach, so your preferences always matter to me. I will also guide you in understanding how to anticipate what kind of commitment caring for your needs fully will take.
Realistically, expect to give your commitment a 3-month period at first. Sometimes, we meet until we reach a point where your needs are being met fully and you feel confident to end counseling. Sometimes, counseling will feel like a resource you want to keep using for years to help you maintain progress you have made. Either way, I will tailor services to your unique and changing needs.
I have a sliding scale in place for all clients, with my full rate at $110 and my lowest rate at $30, as per your financial situation. I do not currently take insurance and do not plan to in the future.
You may be able to get reimbursed for all or part of your session fees using your out-of-network benefits. I provide a superbill upon request, that can be submitted to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I encourage you to confirm your out-of-network benefits with your insurance company prior to our first session, including what percentage they reimburse at for out-of-network services, and whether you have a separate out-of-network deductible.
My choice not to accept insurance is to keep your services low cost and financially simple, to keep your information private, and to keep untrained, unlicensed insurance agents from choosing what kind of care you should have access to. It is my genuine hope that this provides you safe, personalized, accessible services.
The best way to know if a therapist is a good fit is if you feel validated by them, you feel like they actually listen to you, they give you helpful tools, and you can notice a change in yourself.
If you have any concern about being safe in your identity with me as a therapist, I want to assure you that I strive to create an inclusive environment for all clients, which includes LGBTQIA+ individuals, all relationship types, all religions, and all states of ability. Accommodations for access and sensory comfort are available upon request as well.
At our first session, we will go through questions about your background, lifestyle, and needs, and make a flexible set of goals to move forward with.
At regular sessions, we will first check in on current happenings in your life, regulate any big emotions with coping skill practices if needed, and make an agenda related to the goals we set. Depending on your preference, you can lead the conversation or let me guide us through thought prompting questions and exercises.
Many clients like using stress toys, coloring, or doing other light activities through sessions. Sometime you might need to get loud, cry, swear, or just be silent. All are welcome.
Once we reach the end of the session, I’ll give you a heads up that its time to close, we will sum up our conversation and any helpful points we reached, and make plans for how our next session will look.
Fill out this contact form, and I will reach out to schedule a brief consultation call.
